WE’VE BEEN THERE. HERE’S OUR FOUNDER BRYCE’S STORY:
Christian Trauma Therapist in Saskatoon
A few years ago, I was looking for a Christian counsellor that could help me through the difficult season of life I was in. I wasn’t looking for a pastor that could read me Bible verses and pray with me (although, I did connect with my pastor a lot through that season). I was looking for a trained and qualified therapist who cared about the things I cared about and recognized the spiritual influences at work in my life.
You and I both know that it is impossible to separate the body from the soul, and that is why I approach counselling in a wholistic way that aligns with God’s pathway towards relief and healing.
Jesus gives us rest.
IN MY SESSIONS, WE’LL FIND HIM TOGETHER.
I believe Jesus is telling the truth when he says “I will give you rest.” Jesus alone is our hope and salvation, and in His gentle presence alone do we find true rest for our souls.
In my sessions, I offer evidence-based counselling services that also connect people with the healing power of God’s presence. I believe that the Holy Spirit is active and at work within every counselling session (Christians and non-Christians alike), and depending on what you’re most comfortable with, this may include moments of prayer or quietly waiting upon God.
If you’re not so sure…
I GET THAT, TOO.
I recognize that for some of you reading this, Christian spirituality has been used to inflict pain, or to manipulate and control. For those who have experienced spiritual abuse or trauma in the past, I want to partner with you in creating a safe space. I empower each person to direct me in the way that they feel most comfortable incorporating Christian spirituality into their session.
I am also willing to pray for you from afar, if bringing spirituality into your session is simply too uncomfortable at this time.
To hear more about our approach to Christian counselling, I’d love if you’d check out my blog post on this topic.
This is what our other team members have to say…
Denise Carey
“I believe it is always God’s will to heal someone. This was shown in the life of Jesus. Nothing is impossible for Him—and that means even the biggest of problems, conflicts, and traumas are not bigger than His love and power to heal.
“By bringing people into an experience with God in every counselling session, I see healing and wholeness at a deep level. The Holy Spirit works to heal everything: our body, soul and spirit. “Regular” counselling usually addresses issues of the body and soul but stops short of connecting with one’s spirit. This is not the case with Christian counselling. God’s love and presence flows towards and heals the root issues contributing to each person’s distress. In some cases, I have had clients not wanting to leave the session because they sense God’s presence in the room and His love for them. I feel blessed when this happens because it is so clear in those moments that it is not about me; it’s all about God! He truly is our Wonderful Counsellor!
“I am also trained in Sozo: a theoretical model based on the principle that emotional wounding from our past can create faulty beliefs about ourselves, others, and God. Sozo shifts the focus from talking about God to helping clients talk directly to God. This change in perspective and approach allows for a beautiful, intimate dialogue between the client and God that then brings lasting healing and transformation.”

“Connection with God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit is incredibly valuable in my counselling sessions. We rely on the Father to provide unconditional love and a sense of identity, belonging, and destiny. We rely on Jesus for advocacy, guidance, light, revelation, and peace. We rely upon the Holy Spirit to provide comfort, hope, help, strength, truth, and abiding presence. This spiritual resourcing produces true wholeness and freedom rather than temporary symptomatic cures or maintenance strategies for ill behaviours.
“If we could be set free and made whole on our own, then we would. The simple fact that we are not free and whole speaks to our need of assistance. Sometimes that aid falls short with human intellect, skill, and experience. We require the spiritual power of a loving God who created and designed each of us uniquely. He is the only One with the “Designer manual” to meet the deep matters of the body, soul, and spirit of humankind.”
