Therapy for Anxiety & Stress in Saskatoon
We can help you let go of worry.
When you’re feeling anxious and overwhelmed, life no longer feels enjoyable. Our counsellors and therapists can help you reclaim your peace and joy.
What is Anxiety?
Anxiety is a normal response to stress, and it can even be beneficial in certain situations. Anxiety works tirelessly to protect us by making us aware of potential dangers and motivating us to take action. However, when anxiety becomes especially intense, persistent, and starts interfering with daily life, the benefit wears off and we are left feeling terrible.
Struggling with anxiety is often quite debilitating. There is usually a deep, nagging sense that “something is not right” or “something is wrong with me.” People struggling with anxiety might worry a lot about the future, think about the worst-case scenario all the time, have intrusive thoughts, and feel pressured to perform or to avoid certain things.
If your anxiety or stress has become unmanageable, it is worth seeking help from a professional counsellor or therapist. Our team is located in Saskatoon and online, and we are always accepting new clients!
Some of the conditions we treat are:
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Social Anxiety Disorder
Panic Disorder (Panic Attacks)
Specific phobias
Undiagnosed anxiety or stress
It is worth pointing out that not everyone experiencing anxiety or stress has an “anxiety disorder.” At SoulSoothe, you do not need an anxiety disorder diagnosis for us to consider your anxiety or stress to be valid enough for therapeutic treatment.
What does therapy for anxiety or stress look like?
First of all, we want to make sure you can carry on with your day-to-day activities. Your therapist might help you build coping skills or brainstorm ways to reduce stress. Sometimes, making small changes each day can lead to bigger transformations over time. By learning positive ways to manage or relieve your stress, you’ll be able to avoid burnout or a more serious mental health crisis.
In addition to practical skills, your counselor will help you identify the underlying cause of your anxiety. Anxiety is the mind and body’s way of trying to protect you from further pain, but therapy can help you heal the vulnerable and hurting parts of you. Through anxiety therapy, you can recognize your ability to overcome and recover from painful experiences.
Once the root issue has been addressed, you will fully experience the benefits of the coping skills you and your therapist have developed. By understanding and dealing with the deeper causes of your anxiety, you'll find that the tools and strategies you've learned become even more effective, leading to a more balanced and fulfilling life.
Therapy for Panic Attacks
Panic attacks (sometimes called anxiety attacks) are sudden and intense surges of overwhelming fear or anxiety. Though it might not be clear at first, these sudden bursts of emotion are never random—they are triggered by an event or situation, such as being in crowded places, public speaking, or thinking about stressful or painful experiences.
During a panic attack, individuals may experience rapid heartbeat, sweating, shaking, trouble breathing, tightness or pain in the chest, dizziness, or feeling like they're choking. Emotionally, people often feel intense terror, doom, dread, loss of control, or detachment from reality (dissociation).
As strange and uncontrollable as panic attacks might seem, working with a therapist can offer you more clarity about what’s going on and to help your body and soul heal and recover. The goal of therapy for anxiety and panic attacks is to help you develop self-awareness and cultivate a compassionate relationship with these clearly intense and reactive parts.
By understanding the purpose and intentions of these parts, you can work towards lasting healing and integration, reducing the frequency and intensity of panic attacks over time.
